Officer Rachel Dunn

This week we recognize Rachel Dunn from The Academies of Discovery at South Hall/ World Language Academy Middle School. Officer Dunn has 6 years in law enforcement and her hobbies include gymnastics, cooking, being outdoors, gardening, and interior design. She loves all music; her Pandora is always on shuffle playing a wide variety. She is not a picky eater at all, and will try any food at least once.

Officer Dunn has been married for almost 10 years, and is mother to an adorable 2 year old.

What does she love about being an SRO at her school?

“I love the diversity of our student body. Learning about different cultures while interacting with our students is very rewarding, both personally and professionally. I take pride in knowing students feel comfortable enough to stop by my office for help, advice, or just to say ‘Hello.’ I could not ask for a better job or group of kids!

The staff at my school are equally amazing! My school exposes young children to numerous career fields at an early age. As a mother and a school resource officer, watching our amazing teachers instill excitement, motivation, and creativity into young children is simply astonishing.”

Joey Millwood, Principal at Academies of Discovery at South Hall had this to say about Officer Dunn:

“Rachel Dunn is a glowing example of what a School Resource Officer should be and representative of the best School Resource Officer program in the state! She is full of excitement and interacts with students and staff as well in a compassionate and encouraging manner. Kids love her. Staff loves her… and, she loves them back. She stays ahead of problems by being proactive; looking for potential safety issues and always keeping an eye out for potential safety issues with our kids. She stays in tune with what is going on at our feeder schools and lets administration know when there may be a potential issue in the community that may affect our kids. She exemplifies and enforces our Knight’s Creed to the fullest and she is a shining role model for everyone.”

Thank you, Officer Rachel Dunn!!
